Embracing Our Past as We Engage Our Future This is a phrase I have used more and more lately. We will carry this out in a spiritual sense, honoring the work of the past saints that have gone before us. But we will also do it in an architectural sense. Rather than curse our old building and its prominent location in the middle of all the craziness of Old Town Clovis, we want to celebrate it! As we move forward and prepare for our future growth, we will be improving our church building and accentuating the historic significance and beauty of it. A little history on our church: Our church building was built in the 1890’s and is the oldest functioning church building in Clovis. It was originally built by the local Methodist congregation. In 1961 the Clovis Church of God congregation purchased the church building and the adjacent parsonage. For twenty years the Clovis Church of God thrived and reached the local Clovis community with the gospel of Jesus Christ. In the early 1980’s the church’s name was changed to Valley Community Church of God to expand the church’s influence beyond Clovis. In 2012 God began to give our church a new vision and direction, with an emphasis on recovery, inner healing, and wholeness. God planted a passion in us to be a safe place where people can come to heal and not hide, to cross over from brokenness into the wholeness that God has for them. In 2014 the church name was changed to Crossover Church of God to reflect this new vision and passion. We are proud of our history and gladly embrace our past as we engage our future. Pastor Chris
